When I was in college for my undergrad, I would have never imagined myself sitting here working on classes to become a librarian. It was a dream of mine from childhood that was quickly dissuaded by my pragmatic father who believed teachers didn't make enough money and worked too hard...well, he was right!

My adult life started off at TAMU Corpus Christi with dreams of becoming a television producer. This quickly changed to working in Public Relations. After graduation, I worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for about 5 years when I realized I really missed having time off for travel and wanted to do something a little more meaningful than trying to convince people to stop throwing trash on Texas highways.

My second career started as a high school special education teacher. From there I taught middle school science for almost a decade. And now I find myself here, ready to start another chapter.

My librarian practicum was carried out at Akin Elementary school in Leander ISD under librarian Amber Rolofson. Here I experienced the day-to-day workings of a librarian in the specials rotation with grades K-5.

Texas Teacher Certifications I hold:

  • Librarian EC-12

  • EC-12 SPED

  • ESL Supplemental EC-12

  • Science 4-8

I currently live in Austin, Texas with my husband and two little boys. We have an array of pets. I love gardening, traveling the globe, and nature photography. I've been told I'm a champion shopper and can talk to just about anybody, anywhere, anytime.
