Lesson 3: The Grouchy Ladybug

Can Ladybugs tell time? Can you tell time? What are some clues in The Grouchy Ladybug that you can use to tell what time each part of the story happens? Why do you think she is grouchy? What makes you grouchy?

​1. Read or watch "The Grouchy Ladybug". The video link is above.

2. In your writing journal, title the next page "Ladybug Time" and  fold a page in half. On the left side, write the following times below and skip four lines until your write the next time.

  • 5 am

  • 7 am

  • 9 am

  • 11 am

  • Noon

  • 4 pm

  • 6pm

3. Next to each time, find the part in the story that matches the time of day on the left side of the page.

4. On the right side of the page, draw a picture of what is happening at that time and who the ladybug encontered.

 

Answer the following questions in your writing journal in complete sentences.

1. Why do you think the ladybug grouchy?

2. Do you ever feel grouchy? What makes you grouchy?

3. What would you do to make the ladybug feel less grouchy?

4. Estimate how many hours went by in this story. Think about the time when the story began and when it ended.
